THE MARIAN HEALING SHRINES

mhp-logoThe Marian Healing Shrines are constructed on a 20-hectare (50 acres) property encompassed within a 90-hectare (223 acres) virgin rain forest located at Sagpangan mountain in Aborlan, Palawan. Aborlan is the first municipality 69 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa, lying in a vast plain between mountain ranges and the Sulu Sea. It is a region of rich biodiversity and serves as the agricultural center of Palawan. Its forest resources contain pockets of tropical rainforest, with a lush mangrove forest surrounding its coastline. The majority of its 27,000 people are composed of a cultural minority called the Tagbanua. When you reach the peak of the Sagpangan Mountain, a 72-ft-tall cross will be the final destination for pilgrims with a panoramic, breathtaking view of the sea.

The Marian Healing Pilgrimage site in Sagpangan will enable our local communities, rich and poor, to visit the Marian pilgrimage sites of the world without having to leave the country and spend a fortune. It is a perfect place of refuge, a place to heal, and most of all a place to commune with Jesus the Divine Physician through nature and the intercession of Mother Mary.

The Marian Healing Shrines are comprised of nine famous Marian apparition sites and devotions from around the world: Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Medjugorje, Our Lady of the Rosary, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Mary, Undoer of Knots, and the Immaculate Conception. All these Marian apparitions and devotions show the variety of gifts that God gives through Mary in order to meet every need of His children.

At the Marian Healing Shrines, you will find fresh water originating from seven springs, walking meditation and prayer on a sacred path to the Immaculate Conception, the way of the cross, and stories of each Marian shrine with audio-visual rooms on every site.

In 2018, the Shrine of Our Lady of Seven Sorrow Shrine was added to the Pilgrimage site.

The Marian Healing Pilgrimages is a place of silence, healing, peace, and prayer, where pilgrims can pause, rest, meditate and refresh their mind, body and spirit.

Experience spiritual, physical and mental renewal at the Marian Healing Shrines.

  • Perpetual Hill : Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help

Our Mother of Perpetual Help holds a special place in the heart of the Filipino people. Come to the Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, who never refuses aid to any of her children, to pour out your petitions and thanksgiving!

“O Mother of Perpetual Help, confidence in thee is a certain pledge of everlasting salvation.” –Bl. Pope Pius IX

  • Apparition Hill : Shrines of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of
    Guadalupe, Our Lady of Medjugorje

Apparition Hill honors three famous Marian apparition sites in Portugal, Mexico and Bosnia where millions of pilgrims journey every year. Our Lady appeared in all three instances to the most humble of men- a poor indigenous farmer in Guadalupe and children in both Fatima and Medjugorje. Her messages are always of prayer, conversion and hope through her intercession with Jesus as Mother. Let us come to Mother Mary as humble children, so that she may lead us towards a deeper conversion of heart.

“I am truly your merciful Mother, yours and all the people who live united in this land and of all the other people of different ancestries, my lovers, who love me, those who seek me, those who trust in me. Here I will hear their weeping, their complaints and heal their sorrows, hardships and sufferings.” –Our Lady of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego

  • Devotional Hill : Shrines of Our Lady of the Rosary, Our Lady
of Mt. Carmel, Mary Undoer of Knots

Devotional Hill honors the greatest Marian devotions: the Holy Rosary and Brown Scapular. The saints and Our Lady herself tirelessly encourage the faithful to pray the rosary to give glory to Jesus and Mary, protect our souls, and obtain all our needs. After the Mass, the rosary is the most pleasing and powerful prayer to the Holy Trinity and our Blessed Mother. Through the rosary, Mother Mary can undo every knot and problem in our temporal, spiritual and personal lives, no matter how difficult. When we wear the Brown Scapular, which Our Lady of Mt. Carmel gifted to St. Simon Stock, we wear the garment of Mary to show that we belong to her and enjoy the special protection of the Queen of Heaven.

“One day, through the Rosary and the Scapular, Our Lady will save the world.” –St. Dominic

    • Rosary Hill : The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary. Deepening Prayer One Step at a Time

Rosary Hill is dedicated to helping us meditate on the great mysteries of our healing and salvation, and grow in our familiarity and intimacy with Christ. Each stone represents a prayer, and promotes active contemplation or instruction. The mysteries of the rosary are illustrated on wooden slabs indigenous to the area and specially handcrafted by Father Ricardo Sta. Cruz. The designs, rich with symbolism, provide a unique prayer and meditation experience. A statue of Our Lady stands as the centerpiece of the garden, and is surrounded by flowers representing the mysteries of Christ’s life – white flowering plants for the joyful, red for the sorrowful, yellow for the glorious and purple for the luminous.

The Rosary focuses on Jesus – his birth, life, death and resurrection- seen from the eyes of Mary, His mother. Since the Rosary is primarily composed of the prayer of Christ and the Angelic Salutation (the Our Father and Hail Mary), it was the first prayer and principal devotion of the faithful from the time of the apostles and disciples down to our present day. The Our Father reminds us that the Father so loved the world that He gave His Son for our redemption, so that we, too, may be called sons and daughters of God. In the Hail Mary we ask Mother Mary to accompany us in contemplating these mysteries, because she was and is the most closely united to Jesus in His earthly life and heavenly glory. She, more than anyone, can help us come to a deeper knowledge and love of God.

Culminating with the glorious mysteries, the Rosary reminds us that the purpose and meaning of all life is found in the glory of the Trinity.

After the Mass, the Rosary is the most pleasing and powerful prayer to the Holy Trinity and our Blessed Mother. The Saints and Our Lady herself tirelessly encourage the faithful to pray the Rosary to give glory to Jesus, protect our souls, and obtain all our needs.

While praying on Rosary Hill, we remember that Jesus and Mary are with us in the joys and sorrows of life. We grow in faith, hope and love that God will bring us to share in the glory of Jesus and Mary forever.

“One day, through the Rosary and the Scapular, Our Lady will save the world.” –St. Dominic

Seven Benefits of the Rosary
1. It offers us with an intimate knowledge of Jesus Christ and sets us on fire with love for Our Lord.
2. It purifies our souls and washes away our sins.
3. It instructs us to a deeper understanding of our faith and makes us more religious.
4. It makes it easy for us to practice virtue and avoid sin.
5. It supplies us with what is needed to pay all our debts to God and to our fellow men.
6. It obtains for us all kinds of graces, merits and blessings from Almighty God: forgiveness, courage, peace, happiness and love.
7. The faithful departed (the Holy Souls) are prayed for.

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary.”Sister Lucia dos Santos

“The rosary is the book of the blind, where souls see and there enact the greatest drama of love the world has ever known; it is the book of the simple, which initiates them into mysteries and knowledge more satisfying than the education of other men; it is the book of the aged, whose eyes close upon the shadow of this world, and open on the substance of the next. The power of the rosary is beyond description.”Archbishop Fulton Sheen

  • Labyrinth of the Immaculate Conception

The Labyrinth of the Immaculate Conception offers us a passage through contemplative experience, a chance to leave schedules and the stresses of daily life behind. Its many turns reflect the journey of life, with its changes of direction, transition, transformation, discovery and healing. Walking through the labyrinth gives us the opportunity to physically experience our spiritual journey of total transformation.   Enter the labyrinth as a path of prayer to contemplate the mysteries of God and the Immaculate Conception.

Mary’s Immaculate Conception, or being free of sin from the first moment of her life, reflects a unique gift given to her by God in preparation for becoming the Mother of God and Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Although Mary enjoys an intimacy with God as Mother and Spouse unparalleled by any other creature, we are also called to be close to God and bring Him to the world as Mary did. As her Immaculate Conception and life of virtue enabled her to say “yes” to God with joy and generosity at every moment, so we can strive to imitate her virtues and move ever closer to the Lord. Because sin separates us from God, let us ask for Mary’s help in becoming more like her so we can say “yes” to God’s will for our lives with joy.

As the path brings you closer to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, prepare yourself to meet Mother Mary and listen for an answer or deeper revelation to the questions, needs and desires of your heart.

Millions of pilgrims have sought peace and healing from the original Grotto of Lourdes, with thousands of documented medical miracles having taken place there and countless more spiritual healings. “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for me, a poor sinner.” –Last words of St. Bernadette

  • Resurrection Hill : Stations of the Cross and the Risen Christ

Tradition holds that Our Lady visited the scenes of Our Lord’s passion every day. Praying the Stations of the Cross later became a common practice for Christians who could not travel to the Holy Land. On Resurrection Hill, we accompany Jesus as Mary did along the way of the cross, and come to the realization of how much Jesus sacrificed for us. With our Blessed Mother, let us contemplate the face of Christ on the way of the cross so that we may share more fully in the glory of his resurrection.

“If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” [Luke 9:23]

  • The Summit : The Cross of Christ

A 72-foot cross stands at the Summit of the Marian Healing Shrines, showing how the cross holds the highest place of honor in the Christian life. The cross is where the King of Kings took the form of a slave to free us from all sin- the source of all death, disease, dysfunction and suffering in the world. Christ crucified and risen from the dead declares that all of the sin and suffering of the world cannot conquer the power and love of God. God’s love is always stronger, always deeper, and always gloriously triumphant in the end. Our Blessed Mother’s mission has always been to bring us to the cross, where we find Jesus who is our salvation, healing and victory.

“We are an Easter people and hallelujah is our song.” –St. John Paul II
